On Monday, April 2, 2018, The Austin based Survive2Thrive Foundation announced their new board of directors.
Heather Baumli of iHeart Media, Ashley Jennings of Spero Labs, Dr. Octavious Bishop, PhD of Austin Community College, Sareta Davis of David and Henry Consulting, Wendy Howell of Cisco, Lynda Lerma of Netspend, F Michael Valocchi of IBM, Maize Hamilton of The State of Texas, and Darla Malone formerly of Hayes Software Systems, join the board.
“As we continue to grow, we need to expand our vision. Drawing on the strengths of motivated professionals from various industries will fortify and bring structure and resources to the work we do to serve victims of domestic violence. They are driven. They are on fire. I am looking forward to our future!” says Courtney Santana, CEO of the Survive2Thrive Foundation.
The Survive2Thrive Foundation has also appointed a new board chair and a new survivor board chair to galvanize the new board appointees.
Earl Ameen is CEO of The Grey Owl Company and Beyond Ten, Board of Directors of the Cory Redding Foundation and has over 30 years of successful domestic and international business and transaction management and entrepreneurial experience spanning from street vendor to board member. Additionally, Mr. Ameen is a seasoned international Speaker, Entertainer, Mentor and Coach. Mr. Ameen has an extensive background in the areas of human development, teen and adult leadership.
“I accept the responsibility of my choice to serve as Chairman because the mission of the Survive2Thrive Foundation and Survive2Thrive Capital Ventures align with my beliefs and who I AM. The focus of my intent will be to strengthen S2T from within that it may give strength to the women, men and children who choose to engage the journey to freedom, recovery and independence.” says Board Chair Ameen.
New Survivor Board Chair Tisha Christopher leads the critical survivor board and has survived domestic abuse. She brings passion and perspective to the position and is the perfect candidate to drive the self-sufficiency initiatives we look to push in 2018.
Tisha L. Christopher is a 1992 graduate of Huston-Tillotson University living in Austin, where she has worked for the State of Texas for 10yrs, currently as the Quality Assurance Administrator for the Health and Human Services Commission, Consumer Rights and Services Division. Tisha is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. with 30yrs of service to the local community. She has served as Chaplain for several organizations and is currently the director of the Communications/Media ministry at her church, Diakonos Ministries.
The Survive2Thrive Foundation (S2T) is to provide life-changing resources and support to displaced victims of domestic violence and abuse, to assist them in creating their own sustainable path to recovery, self-sufficiency and success.
